Meet Your Photographer
Thank you for taking a moment to read a little more about me, Jessica, newborn portrait artist. First and foremost I am a wife, daughter, friend and mom to two amazing children. My children are my greatest blessings. They make me laugh everyday and fill my heart with more love than I knew was possible. They also make me crazy. I joke that becoming a mother was the best and worst thing that has ever happened to me all rolled into one. If you're already a mother, you know how true that statement is. Being a mom is the most rewarding job on this planet, but on some days, it is also soul crushing. It's the hardest job anyone will ever have. So kudos to all the mamas out there. You're crushing it!
I would say I am funny, sometimes goofy, smart, sassy, the girl next door, sweet, silly, a designer, a fashionista (at least I like to think so), trusting, honest, a perfectionist, and the list goes on-and-on. I eat more ice cream then I should. It is legit my biggest weakness. I love chocolate chip cookies, but only my own. Pizza is hands down my favorite meal, but I rarely eat it because I live Weight Watchers to stay healthy. When I do treat myself, I feel guilty. The struggle is real! I believe no one is perfect and it is through our imperfections and mistakes where we learn the most about ourselves and who we truly want to be as a person. I also believe there is more good in this world than evil. My favorite quote of all time is "Whenever I get gloomy with the state of the world, I think about the arrivals gate at Heathrow Airport. General opinion's starting to make out that we live in a world of hatred and greed, but I don't see that. It seems to me that love is everywhere. Often it's not particularly dignified or newsworthy, but it's always there - fathers and sons, mothers and daughters, husbands and wives, boyfriends, girlfriends, old friends. When the planes hit the Twin Towers, as far as I know none of the phone calls from the people on board were messages of hate or revenge - they were all messages of love. If you look for it, I've got a sneaky feeling you'll find that love actually is all around.” -Love Actually
I love cheesy girly movies and cheesy romantic books. At night, I am a television binge watcher. Once I get on a roll I cannot stop..."Just one more episode and then bed"....5 hours later and I am still watching. I believe that what I have in this life, I have because of hard work and God. I am a worry wort by nature and I often have to remind myself to let my faith be bigger then my fear, and that with God on my side, all things are possible. I have worked hard for everything I have in life and I strive for perfection. I don't take no for an answer and I don't give up easy. My husband says that I am a dog with a bone when it comes to anything I am passionate about; where there's a will there's a way. I am organized to a default and my house is always 5 minutes away from being "royalty is stopping by" ready. I need cleanliness and organization to function. I forgive and forget easy and I am an extremely loyal friend. If I cared for you once, I will care for you always. It is the people in my life that mean the most to me, including my clients. I remember every single client I have ever had and I have over 50 sessions a year and I have been doing this for 8 years. While I strive for perfection, I am by no means perfect and I still make mistakes. When I do, I pick myself up and try to do better next time. I am definitely still working on being the best me I can be.
I hate things that make me sad. I hate the evening news because it makes me sad. I am a night owl and mornings come way to fast. If I could stay up late and sleep in everyday, I would in a heartbeat! I hate strict routines and I like to fly by the seat of my pants. I believe there is far to much work and not enough play and wish we had 4 day work and school weeks and 3 day weekends. I cannot stand people who are rude. I truly believe you catch more bees with honey. Life is to short to be mean or unhappy. Smile. Be kind. Treat others the way you want to be treated. Be the change you want to see in the world. It feels so much better to lift people up than to tear them down. I know all of these statements are cliche, but I believe every single one of them. As my little boy says, "If you want to change the world, you have to start with the little things".
This is pretty much me in a nutshell. I look forward to meeting you and the beautiful family you have created out of love.
xx
